McWane Fingered in Workplace Accident

The NY Times is still all over McWane like fleas on a dog. That's not a bad thing, but hey guys, there are lots of other good health and safety stories out there.
FINE FOR MANUFACTURER OVER SAFETY

McWane Inc., a cast iron pipe manufacturer with one of the nation's most extensive records of workplace safety violations, was fined $130,000 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The fines were the result of a recent OSHA investigation at the Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, a McWane plant in Phillipsburg, N.J. The agency found 12 new safety violations at the plant, 9 for serious or repeat infractions. The agency's inspection was prompted by an incident in December in which one worker lost three fingers cleaning a cement mixer.
