Chinese Chastise US For Workplace Safety, Human Rights
Angered by the U.S. report on human rights in China, the Chinese government issues its own report on human rights violations in the U.S. In addition to problems with poverty, health care coverage, homelessness and womens rights, the report noted workplace safety problems:Work safety in the U.S. was another concern of the Chinese report, which pointed to a survey of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration which said from 1982 to 2002 there were 1,242 cases involving the death of workers caused by the employers' "intended" violation of safety rules. "Yet 93 percent of the cases were not brought to court," the Chinese report noted.I guess they've been reading the NY Times. The entire Chinese report can be found here.
And I seem to recall they've got a few workplace safety problems of their own.
