Mission: Defeat Richard Stickler While I'm At The Beach

I'm on a suicide mission at the beach for a few days, watching over fifteen 18-year old girls young women. If I can find a a wireless connection or a cybercafe, in between working on my pre-cancerous glow tan and fending off trips to the emergency room and police station, I might get some time in for blogging.

If not, deal with it.

In the meantime, the time has come to LOBBY YOUR SENATORS TO VOTE AGAINST RICHARD STICKLER AS HEAD OF MSHA.

The US Senate will vote Tuesday on whether to close debate on the nomination of Richard Stickler to head the Mine Safety and Health Administration. We need 41 votes to stop Stickler's nomination.

I've called for President Bush to withdraw Stickler's nomination. He didn't listen to me. Now it's time for the US Senate to listen to all of us.

Call you Senators' offices on Monday. The mining industry is in a crisis. Thirty-three coal miners have already been killed this year. Tell them that Richard Stickler is not the person we need at this time to lead this country's mine safety efforts.

If you don't know your Senator's phone number, scroll down the right-hand column of Confined Space until you get to the picture of Abraham Lincoln. Type your zip code in and then click on your Senators' photos. Pick up your phone and call.

Show them that there are people out there who care. Lots of them.
