Ever Heard Of Hazard Communication?

I'm "promoting" this from the comments:
As a nurse practitioner/industrial hygienist I had a patient encounter recently - the young woman (after her annual exam) tells me as an after thought -- at work her face swells up and her ears turn red -- to such an extent that co-workers in other departments become alarmed. She works by herself in a closed room grinding lenses for glasses. She uses chemicals, and fumes are emitted from the intense heat as she grinds the plastic lenses. The doctor she works for gave her benadryl. She knows nothing about the chemicals she works with or the potential hazards.

For those of you who are unaware, OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard requires workers to be trained about the chemical hazards they are exposed to.
